Frequently asked questions about our Mosquito Control Program

Q. When do you start in the spring?

A. Depending on the weather it could be beginning of April or May.

Q. How do you price the applications?

A. The cost is determined by the amount of overhangs that are accessible, elevated decks or porches, landscaping and are you abutting a woods or bushy area. We take all of this into consideration. Also if you are a Healthy Lawn Customer there are a couple of discounts that would apply to you.

Q. What do your applications kill?

A. Mosquitoes and many other pests that are around the average home.

Q. How frequently do you come and how long do we have to stay off the application?

A. We come approximately every 20-22 days and New York State requires that we post the proerty with signage that says stay off for 24 hours. We recommend that you stay off until it is thoroughly dry.

Q. What kind of product do you use?

A. Healthy Lawn has always used a pyrethroid which carries a Caution label. It is effective and has a decent residual. This class of product is used in shampoos used for head lice. 

​

Q. Do I have to be home?

A. No but if you have a locked gate or outdoor pets we will have to call ahead to make sure that we have access and also that your pets are inside.

Q. Do you have to use a pesticide?

A. No, there are natural products but they do not last as long, and our experience has been that when we come more frequently with a natural product and it is not as effective "You will not be happy" and it costs more!!
